Regency-Superior Buys British Commonwealth Stamp Co.

St. Louis, Missouri – Regency-Superior has purchased British Commonwealth Stamp Company of Wilmington, North Carolina from long time owner Cliff Goetsch.

Mr. Goetsch maintained one of the country’s largest stock of quality British Commonwealth mint and used stamps – more than $2 million worth. He was very popular within the stamp show circuit for the past 30-years, and maintained an extensive list of clientele. His stock encompassed the entire British Empire with particular strength in British Asia.

Mr. Goetsch and his wife decided to retire and sell their entire business to Regency-Superior. The more expensive British singles & sets will be placed in Regency’s upcoming auction at the APS StampShow in Sacramento, California this August. The moderate priced material will be sold online via StampHall.com

According to Regency president, David Kols, “British Commonwealth is hot as a pistol. We were pleasantly surprised at its popularity, and the high hammer prices realized at our recent public auction held in Beverly Hills this past April. We were extremely pleased that we were able to purchase the entire $2 million inventory intact”.

Regency bought Superior Stamps & Collectibles in October 2002, and changed their moniker to Regency-Superior in January, 2004. They have purchased numerous show dealers outright in the past few years, and are actively pursuing dealers wanting to retire or liquidate their stock. In addition to stamps, Regency has resumed Superior’s dominance in the Space and Sports collectible markets.
