A handwritten short speech given by the first human in Space, Yuri Gagarin, on August 20th, 1962, at the All-Soviet Young Machine Operator's Meeting in the city of Tashkent. Text of speech reads: 'Dear Comrades! The first flight to space allowed me to acquaint myself not only with unprecedented height and speed, but also with the much larger abilities of scientists, engineers and simple workers. Our people, brought up by the Communist Party, are able to create miracles. The spaceship 'Vostok', with which I became closely linked, as with human beings, is the culmination of all the newest achievement of Soviet science and technology. And our reserves are endless. Our arsenal is bottomless!" Speech written and signed in brown ink, with typed date and location city. Document has a tear along the top and edges a little frayed, but content conserved well. Rare and quite desirable item.
